I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:14 (NASB)
Do you want to live in the victory Christ has given you? If you hope to finish well, you must exhibit the following traits
Courage, being willing to risk failure. Though it’s natural to want to appear strong and capable, God delights in empowering you in your weaknesses, so He gets the glory. Confidence, knowing that even when God calls you to a task beyond your ability, you can move ahead because He will enable you to do His will. Commitment in the journey, understanding that the Lord promises to guide you, provide whatever is needed, and strengthen you along the way. Persistence, realizing that the road you’re traveling is full of distractions, opposition, and obstacles that’ll tempt you to give up, but that Jesus is worth your endurance. Focus, forgetting what lies behind and pressing forward to what lies ahead because of who it is that calls you (Philippians 3:13-14)
The key to success in this race is an all-consuming desire to honor Christ and reach the goal. So don’t give up or settle for the immediate gratification the world offers. Understand the prize that awaits you, and press on.
Jesus, help me live in Your victory
- with courage, confidence, commitment, persistence, and focus
- so You can receive the glory. Amen.
